Alder Hey is the official chosen charity of local personal injury firm SGI Legal, and it’s not too late to join them in raising funds.

Lawyers at local firm SGI Legal have been working hard throughout 2015 hoping to raise a total of £6,000.00 in funds for potentially life-saving equipment at Alder Hey’s new hospital in the park.
On 20th September 2015, after several weeks pounding the streets in training, junior lawyers put their fitness to the test in the Aintree Grand 10K.
Nina Sumner, who persuaded a group to take place, said “It was hard work because none of us are natural runners but the whole process turned out to be thoroughly rewarding. Not only was it an excellent way to get fit, we were able to put something back into the community and raise just under £250.00 for such a worthwhile cause.”
On Friday 02 October, SGI Legal also held its annual Quiz Night at The Ship & Mitre, Dale Street, for the cause. The night challenged staff to an inter-firm competition, with prizes for the winning team, most inventive answer and best team name.
A good attendance on the night had The Ship & Mitre buzzing with staff excitedly discussing answers and finding out the right ones at the end.
There were some fabulous raffle prizes donated by local businesses including John Lewis vouchers from Exchange Chambers, two Liverpool FC tickets from TriStar Costs and champagne from Harrington Street Chambers.
Alum Ullah, Litigation Manager at SGI, and Quiz Master and Co-Host for the evening, said “It was lovely to see the staff having a laugh and raising money for such a deserving charity in the process. I was delighted with the support received from SGI and local businesses.”
The very successful evening raised £750.00 for Alder Hey’s Children’s Charity and the firm is already busy planning their next fundraising event.
Last year SGI’s charity events helped raise over £5000.00 for Time to Talk Liam and they are looking to increase upon that this year for this very worthy cause. Simon Shaw, Partner, hopes that with SGI’s support via in-house fundraising, the firm’s sponsorship and the local community, we can raise an incredible £6000.00 for Alder Hey.
Simon said “Since our formation in 2012, SGI has actively supported charities throughout the UK. We are delighted to be supporting Alder Hey this year and raising money for a good cause locally. “As a leading local business it’s important that we join together to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.”
Louise Barrett, from Alder Hey Children’s Charity said “We are really pleased to have the support of SGI Legal and are delighted that they have pledged to raise £6,000 to help make the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital the best it can be.”
