Lairds Assessors Accident Report Integration

In early 2015 the Project Team working with the developers at Lairds linked up case management systems to streamline the process and allow for a complete data exchange.

Lairds engineer instructed electronically by SGIs system to perform a physical forensic examination of the damaged vehicle.
Fee earner has a live screen in the case management system which displays the live lairds status, so no need to contact lairds to see where the inspection is upto. Report and pictures sent directly to client’s case where fee earner can consider engineering evidence.System considers automatically imported data.
If diminution (reduction in value) report needs to be completed based on age and condition of car.

Storage is flagged and invoices requested straight away.
Report sent straight to client for approval via electronic signing system.

Client automatically chased for documents to be signed.The report can be reviewed, approved by client and sent to third party insurer within a day.Traditional process would heavily rely on post and chasing client sometimes extending the process to over a week.

The Dashboard

Management information is critical to monitor business performance, analyse trends and make informed decisions.The incumbent MI system at the firm was delivered via multiple disconnected spreadsheets. Making informed decisions sometimes needed multiple spreadsheets and reports to be considered. Embracing the transparency value the IT Project Team were tasked with developing a management information dashboard that would provide transparent reports and statistics to all levels of the business. “The Dashboard” enables the team at all levels to view statistics on:

  • Target to Actual
  • Settlements
  • Issues
  • Cash Collection
  • Case Life Span
  • Exceptions from Litigation Plan

New IT Recruit

We recently recruited a new member of the IT Team called Antony Di Scala.
Antony joins the rapidly expanding IT team as IT Projects Manager and will be and will be responsible for:

  • Managing the development projects and recent investments made to the firms networks and servers.
  • Developing the Information Security framework at the Firm.

Antony is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with over nine years experience with servers and networks across a broad range of industries from retail to government to legal.His appointment shows the continued commitment by the firm in investing in IT and also the emphasis we take on client information security and protecting client’s data.

Network and Team Expansion

The IT team recently undertook an analysis of internal IT hardware and the service provided by a third party IT provider. The aim was to address any issues in business continuity and IT support service to the internal teams. The results of the analysis indicated some issues with the current provider and the current system setup.

It was decided that a new team be created within the business and some investment was needed by the firm to increase capacity and create some redundancy in the internal systems. The investment made by the firm enabled an off site disaster recovery solution to be created hosted in a state of the art data centre located in Manchester which enables the firm to replicate systems and servers in real time.

The firm also made the investment in a 24/7 monitoring system to ensure that servers and networks are up ready to be used should an issue happen out of hours.

Partner Portal

Partner portal is our own custom in house built software which allows our partners to view the progress of their cases from anywhere at any time.

Each partner has their own section of our web portal in which they can log in into and view information such as direct updates from our staff and the ability to download information as excel documents.
